National Monument on Dam Square defaced with red paint and word ‘genocide’; Halsema calls it a ‘cowardly act’

The National Monument on Dam Square in Amsterdam was defaced Monday morning with red paint and the word ‘genocide’. Mayor Femke Halsema called the vandalism ‘an incredibly cowardly act’. The municipality has announced it will file a police report.
