‘We should embrace the fact that we have a multilingual community’

Is the Dutch language being threatened by English? To Mia You, Assistant Professor in English Language & Culture and also a poet, there is no reason to see the two languages as competitors. Why not take advantage of multilingualism to explore our creativity instead? That’s what she did in "Proverb", a bilingual poem written for Unesco’s Utrecht City of Literature. She’s also received a Veni grant for a research project called “Poetry in the Age of Global English.”
