Landmark decision of the European Court on algorithmic transparency and automated decision-making

A case that redefines transparency in automated decision-making under the GDPR. The Court ascertains how far such 'algorithmic transparency' should go, including whether the algorithm needs to be disclosed and how the transparency requirements should be weighed against the rights of others than the data subject. The Court emphasizes that data subjects should be enabled to verify the input for and the accuracy of the (result of the) automated decision that concerns them. Therefore, controllers should describe in a simple and easy to understand manner the input, the method used, the criteria taken into account, and how it was weighed.
