Simulating a thousand charging stations on DelftBlue - a TU Delft story
Connecting your electric vehicle to the grid after arriving home at night, and finding it fully charged in the morning, means that a complex optimisation problem has been successfully solved while you were sleeping. This optimisation is the topic of Stavros Orfanoudakis’ PhD project at the Intelligent Electrical Power Grids group of TU Delft. Balancing the energy hunger of electric vehicles, the supply of electricity, and the limited capacity of the grid requires model simulations on the DelftBlue supercomputer.
