Ayrton (22) pays 883 euros for his student room with a filthy shared kitchen: ‘I sometimes ask myself: is this living or surviving?’

Student Ayrton Anemaet (22) earns 1,190 euros per month from his student union board position and his work on the HvA representative council. He also receives an allowance from his parents and student financial aid, but fears he will have to move back to Lelystad next year. ‘I cannot afford life in Amsterdam, which causes me a lot of stress.’
